Edit PDF
Updated Files never leave your device
Fix and mark up a PDF without Acrobat: type new text anywhere, white out old text and write over it, highlight, strike through, draw boxes and circles, drop in images or a signature.
How to edit PDF
- Choose a PDF.
- Pick a tool — Text, Whiteout, Highlight, Line, Box, Circle, a check or cross, Image or Signature — and tap the page.
- Drag to move, use the handles to resize, and change font, size and colour in the toolbar. Press Delete to remove the selected item.
- Click Save edited PDF and download.
How to change existing text in a PDF
PDFs store text as positioned glyphs, not paragraphs, so true in-place rewriting only works when the original font is embedded and you accept reflow problems — that's why even paid editors often get it wrong. The reliable approach, and the one this editor uses:
- Place a Whiteout box over the words you want to replace and resize it to fit.
- Add a Text box on top and type the correction. Pick Sans, Serif or Mono to match the document (most business documents use a sans font like Helvetica or Arial; contracts often use Times).
- Match the size: body text is usually 10–12 pt, headings 14–18 pt.
Whiteout is not redaction
Whiteout covers what you see, but the original text is still inside the file underneath and can be copied out. To truly remove confidential information, convert the edited pages to images (e.g. with Compress PDF, which re-renders pages) or use a dedicated redaction tool.

Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. Everything happens with JavaScript inside your browser tab — the file is never uploaded, stored or seen by anyone. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads.
Can I edit the original text directly?
Not in place. Cover it with Whiteout and type the new text on top — the result looks the same on screen and in print.
Which characters can I type?
Text uses the standard PDF fonts (Helvetica, Times, Courier), which cover English and Western European letters. Other scripts like Chinese or Cyrillic are replaced with ?; type those with an image instead.
Are my edits permanent?
Yes — when you save, everything you added is flattened into the page, so it displays the same in every PDF reader.
Is there a page or file-size limit?
No fixed limit. Pages render as you scroll, so long documents work; very large files are limited only by your device's memory.
